Third Term At Nursery
WE WOULD EXPECT CHILDREN TO:
- Begin to develop emotional resilience and self-regulation (being able to recover from slight mishaps without needing the support of an adult)
- Have the confidence to say, “No!” assertively with words or/and gestures
- Begin to negotiate with their peers and make compromises
- Begin to focus for longer periods of time on a chosen activity or an interest
- Confidence in initiating conversations with known adults and making requests
- Take turns in shared dialogue
- Ask and answer questions in relation to their learning
- Become more deeply involved in learning opportunities
- Begin to recognise and make links with previous learning and experiences
- Show a pride in personal achievements
- Develop a self-awareness of their likes, dislikes and what they are good at doing
- Create more complex play scenarios
- Have increasing fine motor control in order to mark-make
- Give meaning to their attempts at emergent writing
- Increasing awareness of a range of initial sounds and phonics
- Begin to form some significant letters correctly
- An excitement and eagerness to move on to Reception class
HOW WILL THIS LOOK?
- Children resolving disputes with fewer adult interventions needed
- Children having more consideration for their peers wellbeing, feelings and ideas
- Deeper involvement in the curriculum
- Revisiting of interests over a period of time
- Children extending their knowledge and developing their life skills
- A confidence in their approach to learning
